Blonde Logic

Well I am Blonde, not a true blonde, mind you, but a blonde non the less. Being that as it may I feel I can therefore post blonde jokes. so here goes:

Two blondes living in Nebraska were sitting on a bench talking....and one blonde says to the other, "Which do you think is farther away....Florida or the moon?"

The other blonde turns and says "Helloooooooo, can you see Florida...?????"

Vintage Purses

MondDo you love vintage purses? I know I do. I have so many that I have decided to sale some in my rubylane shop.

I have a elegant 50's Classic Smooth Brown Lizard Skin Vintage Escort Kelly Frame Purse
Classic and stylish, this stunning handbag is in excellent condition. The outer bag is covered in smooth brown lizard skin. Even the handle, seams and sides of the pocketbook are beautifully intact, with very little signs of wear. There are 4 ball feet on the bottom of the Kelly framed purse handbag which have helped keep the corners intact, too. The clasp functions smoothly and easily. Inside, the beige leather lining is in good condition. There is very small amount of wear along the bottom edge of purse. These very minor flaws do not impact the beauty or functionality of this exquisite bag. The back wall has a open top pocket with the golden imprint that reads Escort Bag. The sturdy style & shape of the purse allows it to stand proudly on its own, and the quality construction means the purse will always retain its shape. The base of the bag measures 7 inches, height measures 6 3/4 inches not including the strap handle, and side width measures 1 1/2 inches. The skin covered strap measures 12 inches in length. This magnificent purse is ready to find a new home and become one of your favorite accessories.

One of my favorites and just right for the summer is this Mint Green Mondani New York Purse

Here is a gorgeous mint green leather purse by Mondani New York. It is in mint condition. It looks brand new. It is lined with a camel colored swede. Pocket on outside of purse has a snap closure (5"W X 6 3/4"H). Purse has zipper closure. One large zippered pocket is in middle of purse with label that reads Mondani New York. there is a nice wide shoulder strap 10" from center of shoulder strap to purse. Mondani is also stamped on back of purse. A perfect accessory for the summer season. purse measures 9" wide at top and 11" wide at bottom, 7" in height. Bottom width of purse is 2 1/2". A Must Have!

Maybe you are looking for something like this Vintage Etienne Aigner Fishing Creel Wicker Shoulder Bag

Classic Etienne Aigner wicker shoulder bag, shaped like a fishing creel. Measuring 6 1/2" wide at the widest point of the base, 6 1/2" high, and over 5 1/2" deep, with a nicely curved back that will fit well against your hip.Heavy, double leather, adjustable strap. Lined in tan Aigner cotton twill with one inside zippered pocket. There is one spot on inside that looks like ink spot. Inside tag says Etienne Aigner Genuine Leather Trim. The leather and wicker are in great condition.

How about this cute little bag, Vintage Handmade Crocheted bronze carnival bead 1920's-1930's flapper bag

Step out on the town like you are from the roaring twenties with this 1920-1930's flapper beaded bag. This handmade bag was crocheted using bronze carnival beads then lined with a tan material. The beading is wholly intact. Just seeing this bag makes me want to go do the Charleston! Excellent vintage condition. 5 1/4"w x 6 1/2"h

Andrea Modeling Sohobeads Jewelry

My daughter (Andrea) and my grandkids came to visit me for the week in Florida since my birthday was July 1st. They live in Louisiana. It was great having them here for the week. I had to take advantage of the opportunity. I got to spend quality time with my daughter while at the same time getting some great pics of my jewelry. I just think you can sell jewelry better if someone can see how the pieces look on. I took some awesome pictures of my daughter modeling my jewelry. Luckily, she is a natural, so we had a blast! Here is the result of our fun time together!
I also had an assignment with Etsy Blogger Street Team to write about Orange on my blog. Since I have been so busy this week with my daughter here I decide to have the background orange on this collage to fullfill that assignment.
You can find the jewelry ay my etsy shop or at my rubylane shop!!!!

INTERVIEW WITH TWO PCAGOE ARTIST- SCOTTGARRETT AND POLLYHYPER

This week I decided to interview two of my fellow PGAGOE-Polymer Clay Artist Guild Of Etsy members
SCOTTGARRETT & POLYHYPER. I decided to ask them some questions about PGAGOE so that you could learn more about PGAGOE and some of the amazing artist who belong to this exciting group.

SCOTTGARRETT
1.How long have you been an artist in polymer clay?
I started working with polymer clay about two years ago. My wife started first, and I couldn't keep my hands out.

2. What is you favorite polymer clay item in your shop? And why is this item your favorite?

I'm obsessed with making these pendants. Large Swirling Emerald and White - handmade polymer pendant is my favorite in the shop right now. The effect of the transparent clay marbled with the other colors is just perfect. Translucent is my favorite color right now.

3. Why do you like polymer clay?
The great colors I get to work with... I love mixing clay and watching how the colors look as they blend into each other... Many times the colors never get fully mixed because I like how they look in transition (cool marbled patterns) I love rolling and twisting all different color combinations, then taking a bit off and rolling it in hand, then a little twist and smash, and there's this cool design that is just so perfect. I love to hold finished beads in my hand.

4. How has being a member of PCAGOE helped you in your creativity with polymer clay?
Gosh, lots of things... I love checking the Flickr group for new posts, to see what others are doing. Through the group I am exposed to new ideas. Early on in my membership, I was having a little trouble believing in the ability to sell polymer work. I got some great feedback about my issues and no more worries! It's awesome to be around such an enthusiastic group of artists who are helping spread the good word about polymer clay. Such talent and creativity, Wow!

5. What was the hardest PCAGOE challenge for you? Why? And what did you make?
curly fern - april challenge on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
I've only participated in one, and made these earrings. I tried to do the self-portrait, but couldn't get my idea to work out :( Can't wait to be more involved in future challenges.)

6. Anything special I should know about you?
Sometimes, finishing a project takes forever, because I'll get a new idea and have to start on it, then another idea, and another.... I do finish some things, really :)

Two of my favorite Polymer Clay Pendants in Scott Garrett’s shop are:

Large Painted Dessert

approx. 2 1/8 x 1 7/8 inches with 2mm hole. 3/8 inch thick.
Shades of Brown, Pink, Blue and Yellow clays blended in a marbled swirl pattern with unique patterns on each side, temporarily strung.
Surface is Satin Matte and will take on a natural polished appearance when handled or worn over time.
Slight Shimmer in the right light.
Pendant Only

Eye of the Storm

approx. 2 x 1 3/4 inches with 2mm hole. 1/2 inch thick.
Shades of Green, Light Blue, Pearl, Translucent and Earth-toned clays blended in a marbled swirl pattern with unique patterns on each side, temporarily strung.
Surface is Satin Matte and will take on a natural polished appearance when handled or worn over time.
Pendant Only

Scott also has some amazing painting in his shop that you really should take a look at, such as this one:
Square The Circle-Seedlings-Original Drawing On Wood.

This is what Scott has to say about this awesome painting, “As the sun warms the Earth and the seeds begin to sprout...the wind of yesterday blows across my face.

This drawing was inspired by a type of visual expression called MANDALAS. Square the Circle is a stage of the Great Round. It is about focusing and being aware of principles and practices that can improve life for you and others.
12 X 12 inches on 1/2 inch birch plywood, coated with water-clear epoxy-resin. Signed and dated on the back and ready to hang.”

POLYHYPER

1.What Is PCAGOE? And why are you a member?
PCAGOE stands for “Polymer Clay Artists Guild of Etsy”. It is a group/street team of Etsy sellers who work with polymer clay in one incarnation or another. We are growing larger and getting more exposure with each day!

2. Has PCAGOE helped you in your creativity? How?
The talent and camaraderie of the PCAGOE members is amazing, and I am so inspired by the many different directions members take working with polymer clay. No two artists are doing exactly the same thing. I’ve learned all kinds of new techniques and tips from PCAGOE members, and been pushed in new directions by the challenges posed by members as well as by the PCAGOE monthly challenge.

3. What do I have to do to join PCAGOE?
If you are an Etsy seller who works with polymer clay, you can contact Tamara, our Membership Secretary at her shop blockpartypress. There is a small membership fee/due which covers prize money for monthly challenges as well as other guild costs, and your required to keep at least 6 polymer clay items in your shop at all times.

4. What was your favorite Challenge with PCAGOE and what did you make?

Well, I’ve only competed in one challenge so far – the mixed media challenge – and it was a great excuse to finally get around to a project I had been thinking over for a while, my Rose Matchbox Pendant. My favorite challenge as a spectator was this past self-portrait challenge. It was a great way to get to know other PCAGOE members.

5. What is your favorite polymer clay item in your shop? And why is this item your favorite?
I really enjoy doing the custom work most, because I know that the piece I make will hold a very special meaning to its recipient. I had one custom order with a picture of a newborn baby, and I knew that would be something the family would hold on to for a long time. Similarly, I made a set of matching pendants for a customer using photos of her grandparents when they were teens, and had a chance to make my own little piece of history for her.
Here are some of Polly's custom pendants she has made:

6. What is weirdest thing you ever made?
My polymer work has been pretty tame, I guess! I’ve used polymer clay to make my own molds and tools, and even to replace a piece that has broken off a household item. I used to make some “items” for a “hippie shop” which shall remain nameless.
I guess I’ll have to start making some weirder pieces!!!

One of my favorite pieces in Poly’s shop is this one:
Wild Woman Mixed Media Pendant

One of my favorite pieces in Poly’s shop is this one: Wild Woman Mixed Media Pendant
This unique pendant is created using mixed media, including paint and image transfer, on polymer clay, and then coated with an acrylic finish for sheen and protection. This piece also incorporates found and/or re-purposed objects such as beads, bells, and coins. Each of my pendants is handmade and slightly irregular. No two are exactly alike, since much of the image transfer process is serendipitous.
Silver accents
Ready to wear on included adjustable black ribbon, or wear on your own chain or necklace!
The text is from a book entitled "Women Who Run with the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD - credit where credit is due!

Pollyhyper also has an amazing array of how to books.
New Clothes from Old
is one of these books.

Also it is POLLYHYPER's BIRTHDAY on JULY 11th.
Don't forget to wish her a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I hope you have enjoyed reading about PCAGOE and these two outstanding artist. Please take time to visit their shops. You can also learn more about PCAGOE at our website pcagoe.com.
I will be interviewing different artist each week so please check back. If there is a shop that you would like to know more about please let me know… Thanks for Viewing my Blog!!!!!

Ruby Lane Spotlight

SHOP SPOTLIGHT: SOHOBEADS GALLERY

How I got started? What inspires me?

All my life my family has been involved in crafts. I made ceramics in elementary school, and my grandmother taught me how to sew, quilt, embroidery, knit, crochet, and paint. I also minored in Art in college. My sister started designing and selling jewelry and it looked like lots of fun, but at the time, the two of us lived in Louisiana, and had many of the same friends. I did not want to compete with her so I decided to wait for a more opportune time, which came about when I moved to Florida. I sold a few pieces but making jewelry was more of a hobby than a means to make money. Mostly I was just collecting different types and styles of beads. My sister would tease me and say, "Are you just going to collect beads or are you going to make something?"

The reason I moved to Florida was I met a wonderful man and got married. Tragically, after being married for only a year, my husband died of a heart attack while out jogging. It was heart breaking for me, but I found I could escape from the reality of the situation by making jewelry. My jewelry became my life. I can forget about everything when I am making jewelry. And now, it has evolved into a passion and a business for me. I live, breath, and think jewelry.

I love the creativity involved in making jewelry and I don't make any two pieces alike. With some jewelry when you look at it you know who the artist is, but I don't believe I have a distinct signature style, as I am very versatile and I am always trying out new things. I feel with each new technique I try it changes the look of my jewelry. It is an on-going process that is constantly developing and changing into different looks.

I love fashion and I try to keep up with the latest styles and colors in the clothes I wear. Therefore, some of the pieces I make are inspired by current fashion styles, and those pieces are modern and trendy. Since I live in Florida the beach, shells, palm trees, sunsets, summer, and Florida colors inspire me, and the result is my newest collection, Bikini Beach Jewelry.

One of my latest passions is taking vintage pieces and reconstructing them. I take new pieces of jewelry and mix them with vintage pieces creating jewelry that is a really one-of-a-kind unique look. Most of my men's jewelry is created this way. These are also the pieces that I love to create a story to go along with them. With the vintage pieces I feel they have a past, and I wonder who wore this piece? What was their life like? I feel the fairytale stories I invent makes each piece just a little more special. The inspiration for the Big Catch Men's Charm Necklace came to me this way.

I also love working with polymer clay because it is so versatile and allows me to be very creative. My Aloha from Hawaii necklace was made using polymer clay. I also dabble in making lampwork beads and metal smithing. It seems like there is never enough time in the day for all the things I want to try and make with jewelry.

I am a member of the Etsy Bead Street Team. We are now an official street team!!!
Here is a little bit about us:

Name: EtsyBEADS
Region: Global
Profile: Beads are the most versatile medium for the creation of jewelry. Fun or elegant, chic or simple, they give endless possibilities for artistic expression. An artist in beads is one who, inspired by the beauty of colors and textures, creates something that is more than the sum of its parts. The humble bead, used in jewelry for thousands of years, can itself become a blank slate. etsyBEAD is therefore open to both bead artists and jewelry designers.
This team provides both jewelers and beadmakers with a forum to congregate, discuss their craft and business ideas, and share tips. Beaders make up a large section of Etsy, and this street team will help them promote both their craft and their individual shops through a diverse selection of events, including: online trunk shows, blog features, targeted advertising, and other opportunities. All Etsians who create beads or beaded jewelry are invited to join.

First Treasury Ever!

http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=63

I finally got my first treasury list on ETSY..Take a look!!!

TEXAS Hold-Um Poker

A sexy young blonde cowboy by the name of J.R. loves to play Texas Hold-Um Poker and he usually wins. He always wears his multi-purpose linkage charm necklace for Good Luck! Of course, when his little southern belle Bobby Sue needs luck at the craps tables she's wearing that necklace.

For a REAL TEXAS necklace you need a BIG vintage belt buckle (1.75"W X 2"L), star studded glitzy gold & cream polymer clay ropers, a vintage gold star and barrel wood bead, and a piece of cow bone. All are hand wire-wrapped with copper wire on to large silver spring ring and hang from a brown rope leather cord which is tied in back to length of your choice.
Leather cord is 28" in length. Charms hang at longest point from ring at little over 2".
This will make a great OOAK (one-of-a-kind) necklace for Father's Day or maybe you might just want to keep it for yourself and your own GOOD LUCK CHARM!

Jack's Pirate Treasure!

Ahoy me Matey’s! Jack was the most feared, respected, and dangerous pirate to sail the seven seas. Having plundered numerous enemies and looted over two-thousand ships. Capt. Jack is easily the most well-known pirate of the ages. Jack’s father Capt. Bloodhook had hidden his entire fortune of buried treasure on an undisclosed island. Cap’n Bloodhook left his original and only map to his son Jack. Many a pirate had tried to find and steal that map to no avail. Little does anyone realize the mystery to the treasure lies in the necklace around Jack’s neck. Can you find the treasure?

Handmade by local artist ceramic starfish, grey polymer clay bead, vintage bead that looks like a shrunken head, and tusk (hangs 3” at longest point), are all hand wire-wrapped with copper wire to spring ring and hang from brown leather 16” cord with bone bead used for closure.

This item is also part of my Linkage Collection which is a group of found, recycled and new items fashioned into components which can be combined in a variety of ways to make necklaces, key chains, charms for your belt loops, hand bags, watches, – the sky is the limit. The idea for the Linkage Collection came from another ETSY seller Lori Marsha which can be found at: http:www.lorimarsha.etsy.com, who is the creator of the linkage project, and all our Linkage items work together.

Here is what Lori Marsha has to say about Linkage:
Linkage is about how we ascribe meaning to objects. These small pieces, which can be used individually or grouped together, are a way to express something about ourselves. When we look at a bright blue button or a vintage game piece, we tend to attach our own experience to it. That experience is linked to a memory and that connection forms an important part of our individuality. Sometimes memories are all together too fragile.

I donate 10% of the proceeds of Linkage sales to The Alzheimers Association.

Her multifaceted beauty--dreamy & kinetic, spellbinding & spine-tingling--will mesmerize those who never seen her. And her tale of triumph & woe will astonish those who've never heard of her.
Her vocabulary was "her sexuality".
"Clara Bow"
I can imagine her wearing this necklace. A vintage red flower brooch with gold center I revamped and hand-wired with gold wire to 18" silver lead and nickel free chain. I hand wire-wrapped 6 new red glass tear drops wire silver niobium wire to vintage silver chain and they dangle below the brooch. A red faceted swarovski crystal was added at clasp for accent. A definite attention getter.

All my pieces are one-of-a-kind handmade designer art jewelry.
Unique in its own way, just like you!

Little Miss Niblet

I went to Louisiana this past weekend to see my grand daughter be in her first pageant. She is 5 years old. There were 7 girls competing in her class for the title of Little Miss Niblet. She came out 2nd runner up and received a crown and trophy. I brought her flowers so she was thrilled.
